Blessing of the Chuppah
Surrounded by loved ones whose joy and prayers are with you, you stand at this Chuppah, a symbol of your new home. Its four sides are open, symbolizing the importance of community and of participation in each other's lives. Friends and family fill the home. May your home be a shelter against the storms, a haven of peace, a stronghold of faith and love.
Blessing over the wine:
This cup of wine is symbolic of the cup of life. As you share the cup of wine, you undertake to share all that the future may bring. All the sweetness life's cup may hold for you should be sweeter because you drink it together; whatever drops of bitterness it may contain should be less bitter because you share them.
Blessed is the Lord our God, Ruler of the Universe, Creator of the fruit of the vine.
Baruch Atah Adonai Eloheinu Melech Ha-Olam, boreh p'ri ha-gafen.
(Doug takes a sip of Wine and pass the cup to Naomi to take a sip)
Shehecheyanu Prayer:
The Shehecheyanu is a joyous blessing that is recited at the arrival of any long awaited occasion (and as Greg, Doug’s brother told me it’s been 37 years)!
This blessing speaks to our thankfulness for three parts of life:
·
1st, for life itself and the people who brought us into the world.
·
2nd, for the opportunities and people who helped raise us and mold us into the people we are today,
·
3rd, for this very moment of joy and celebration with our families and close friends
Blessed are You, O God, for giving us life, sustaining us and allowing us to reach this joyous time.
Baruch Atah Adonai Eloheinu Melech Ha-Olam shecheyanu v'kiy'manu v'higyanu lazman hazeh.

Always Love Each Other
If you can always be as close and happy as today,
Yet be secure enough to grow and change along the way.
If you keep for you alone your love as husband and wife,
Yet find the time to share your joy with others in your life.
If you can be as one and walk through marriage hand in hand,
Yet still support the goals and dreams that each of you have planned.
If you dare to always go your separate ways together,
Then all the wonder of today will stay with you forever.

Pronouncement of Marriage & Breaking the Glass
You have both joined voluntarily in this ceremony of marriage, and have been formally united as husband and wife in the presence of your family and friends. As you have declared openly your clear intentions to be considered before all the world as a married couple, and have exchanged rings and vows attesting thereto, by the power invested in me by the state of Florida, it is my pleasure to pronounce you husband and wife.
We conclude the ceremony with the traditional breaking of the glass. The breaking of the glass, like the commitment you make today, is irrevocable and permanent. As the groom breaks the glass, I invite everyone to shout, "Mazel Tov" which means "Congratulations and Good Luck!"
You may now kiss the bride!!

The Breaking of the glass goes back so many of generations that no one knows the true beginnings of the tradition. However in generations long past, when an engagement contract was agreed to a ceramic plated was broken to seal the agreement. However a ceramic plate can be glued back to gather and used again.
Just like engagements can be broken and another engagement may be able to take place. But smashing of a glass is an act that cannot be put back in to its original condition.
Stomp on Glass
"Mozelt Tov" and Congratulations.
“ Because _____ and _____ sworn to holy wedlock, and have witnessed the same before G-d and this company, and have pledged their loyalties one to the other and the giving of rings. By the power invested in me by the State of Florida, I now pronounce that they are husband and wife.

A red rose is selected because through out all the generations the red rose represents one of the deepest true emotions a human can express.
Therefore I instruct you that where ever you live. Select a single special space in your home. So whenever either of you get upset with the other, and your emotion gets in the way of good judgment, and you cant say the words. Then place a single long stem red rose in that special place. And that will show that above all words and deeds, you love and commitment is still intact.
Now exchange the roses.
